Vayu has kicked off its tenth birthday celebrations with an event at the Hibernian Stephens Green Club hosted by Managing Director Colm Kennedy. The event was attended by staff, customers, partners and friends of Vayu providing an opportunity to exchange stories in an informal setting and of course share some birthday cake!
Commenting on the milestone, Mr Kennedy said: “Vayu entered the market as a challenger brand with our customers at the core of our business. Ten years on and we are more committed to our customers than ever. We have built up a strong customer base with a very low turnover rate and have become a leading supplier of electricity, natural gas and renewables to the industrial and commercial market.”
In 2003 Vayu signed its first license to supply gas in Ireland and has since become the country’s largest independent supplier of large industrial gas users. The company now serves both electricity and gas markets.
In a recent Commission for Energy Regulation report, Vayu was declared the only energy company to supply 100% renewable energy to electricity customers in Ireland in 2012.
Vayu’s growing client base covers a broad range of sectors and includes companies such as Tesco, Bulmers, United Drug, FMC and Cemex. Vayu provides customers with access to international commodity markets and provides them with the information to buy their energy in a smarter, more proactive manner. International commodity group Glencore is the largest shareholder in the business.
As it grows its service offerings and client base, Vayu has opened offices in New York, the UK and the Netherlands.
